The Cost of Pet Care
Sadly there isn't an NHS for pets. Everything we do has to be charged for to cover staff wages and other running costs of the practice.
We will do our best to advise you of anticipated costs for treatment of your pet. Please feel free to ask if there are other costs you would like to know.
We want to give your pets the best care so, we pay staff appropriately to get and keep a top team of experienced staff dedicated to your pets. This is by far our biggest cost. But having an experienced, well trained team, saves you money on unnecessary tests, ineffective treatments, is safer for your pets and can get them better quicker.
If you're concerned about the costs associated with your pet's veterinary care, we encourage you to discuss your situation with us.

Consultations
Initial
£55.39
Initial assessment for a new problem or re-evaluation of one not assessed in the last 3 months.
Repeat
£52.72
Follow up consultations for check ups or assessing pets for ongoing treatment.
Remote
£48.40
These are a great way to reduce your pets 'white coat syndrome' if they experience anxiety coming to the vet (although we do our best to reduce this!).
Vaccinations
Kitten Course
£105
Two vaccinatons for protection against Feline Leukaemia, Enteritis and Cat 'flu'. Usually done at 9 and 12 weeks of age
Puppy Course
£95.40
Two vaccinations for protection against Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and Leptospirosis. Usually given at 8 and 12 weeks of age.
Rabbit
£69.60
RHD1 & 2, Myxomatosis. A single vaccine which can be given from 5 weeks of age.
Medical Investigations
Xrays
£250-800
Xray costs vary depending on the number of pictures needed and if your pet needs a sedation or anaesthetic to keep them still.
We aren't allowed to hold them for an xray for safety reasons so often some sort of sedation is usually required. We always use positioning aids and weighted sand bags to help them think they are being held to reduce the need or amount of sedation.
Ultrasound
£310
This could be a chest (echo) to assess for changes with the heart or look around the abdomen at organs like liver, spleen and kidneys.
This is much like a preganacy scan in humans, it can often be done without sedation but does require fur to be clipped and some jelly to be able to see properly.
Blood Samples
£50-180
Tests prices vary according to what elements we advise checking. Basic pre-op bloods are £65 and for those we don't charge an additional collection and reporting fee (£30). This enables them to be used widely as an extra layer of safety for our anaesthetics.
A basic annual blood test is included for no extra charge on our care plans.
Medications
Practice Pharmacy
We maintain a stock of most medications so they can be dispensed at the time of need. There is a cost to providing this service which means we cannot always compete with internet pharmacies. We select products based on ease of use and lowest costs for you. Supporting our pharmacy enables us to have items when you need them.
Please allow at least 2 working days for requesting medication but 5 days for a controlled drug.
Returns/Refunds
Due to regulations around medications we are unfortunately unable to use or resell any medication. Therefore WE CANNOT REFUND THE COST OF MEDICATION after collection.
Please return any unused medications so they can be safely disposed of by incineration to protect the environment. Especially for antibiotics and parasite treatments which can harm wildlife and the environment.
Written Prescriptions
£20
Written prescriptions are charged per item now as the required information to go on each has increased. There is a reduced fee for prescriptions for additional items done at the same time. (£14)
Stay legal, purchase your medications from a UK based pharmacy registered with the Governments Veterinary Medicines Directorate.
